Who we are
Get Help Pod is a London-based art therapy and mental health podcast hosted by Black British artist, creative entrepreneur and art psychotherapy practitioner Charmaine Chanakira.
Combining therapeutic art making with honest conversation, the podcast creates a safe and emotionally expressive space where guests explore healing, identity, relationships, trauma, creativity and emotional wellbeing through drawing, painting and storytelling.
Unlike traditional interview podcasts, Get Help Pod invites guests to create art throughout each conversation, allowing creativity to become part of the emotional process. Through visual expression and vulnerable dialogue, the podcast explores how art can support reflection, connection, self-discovery and healing.
The podcast features guests from a wide range of creative backgrounds including artists, musicians, fashion designers, entrepreneurs, therapists, content creators and cultural voices. Alongside conversations around mental health and emotional wellbeing, guests share personal experiences, creative journeys and insights from their respective industries, creating authentic and inspiring discussions rooted in creativity and human connection.
Why Art Therapy?
Art therapy combines psychology and creative expression to support emotional healing, self-awareness and mental wellbeing. Through painting, drawing and visual storytelling, Get Help Pod explores how creativity can help people process emotions, trauma, identity and lived experiences in ways words alone often cannot.
By combining conversation with art making, the podcast creates a more reflective and emotionally engaging experience that encourages both guests and audiences to connect with themselves through creativity and honest dialogue.
